MISSION STATEMENT
To accurately interpret and present history from an African American perspective in order to help all American and International visitors better understand and appreciate the contributions of African Americans to America as well as the world.

INSIDE THE APEX MUSEUM

Visit the Yates and Milton Drug Store, one of
Atlanta’s first Black owned businesses. Hear
the stories of early African American pioneers
in Atlanta. Learn about the powerful Black
Families that helped to make Atlanta great.
The APEX has extensive information on the
history of Auburn Avenue. Inside you will find
artifacts, photographs and multi-media
presentations on the African American
cultural experience both past and present.

All Aboard! Our Trolley Theater provides the
right atmosphere for video presentations on
African American experiences. Videos shown
are; “Sweet Auburn: Street of Pride”, “The
Journey”, and a number of children’s shows
(The Croations presentation of inventor Lewis
Latimer) & (African Tales of courage, honesty
and respect).

Meet our knowledgeable docents, as they
share educational information to the young
and young at heart. Learn about Africa and
African American people from resourceful
guides as they help bring your APEX Museum
visit to life! You are sure to learn something
great during your visit to The APEX Museum.

In the Hall of Achievement, donated by
BellSouth, you will find information on African
American achievers in various disciplines.
This permanent exhibit derived from the
BellSouth Black History Calendars dated
1984-1996, permanently sustains the
progress of African Americans.

The Future of The APEX

The New APEX for the New Millennium will be a 90,000 square foot
facility with state of the art interactive exhibitions. It will allow visitors
to take a child by the hand and walk him/her through presentations,
capturing the experience with virtual reality.
